Jubilees Family

JUBILEE CELEBRATION OF THE PAULINE FAMILY
crypt of the Shrine "Regina Apostolorum
June 29, 2010

HOMILY
the Superior General Don Silvio Sassi

celebrating the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, we wish to reflect
on the Word of God just proclaimed, as the assembly of the Pauline Family members celebrating the 75, 70, 60, 50 and 25 years of religious profession, 60, 50 and 25 years of priesthood and Pauline 25 years of promises to cooperate.
The passage of first reading (Acts 12 , 1-11 ) tells how the angel of the Lord delivers the apostle Peter was imprisoned by King Herod. The way chosen by Luke to tell the miraculous episode highlights that the protagonist of the episode is the Lord Almighty. With his actions and his words, the angel implementing what the Lord wants. Peter was sleeping, woke up, he obeys mechanically and only once lost an angel, part of himself, as he was in an altered state of consciousness. The Church, the community of other Christians, awake in a "constant prayer" for Peter. Luca
in this story presents the Christian community in its head and its members, abandoned to the divine intervention of God and trusting their own when going through the first political persecution that has already killed the Apostle James . The story of the miraculous deliverance, is in the tradition of all his miracles made by Yahweh in Jewish history and experience of the Easter resurrection of Christ lived by the apostles and early Christians.
celebrating today the various anniversaries of the Pauline Family scattered all over the world, the first and we all celebrated with them, we, like Peter, "return to ourselves" and discover God's presence with clarity in the gift of life, Pauline faith and vocation we have received. With the eyes of faith, today we wish to thank Providence for what he has done in all of us in the various institutions we belong to Pauline and all the good that, with God's help, we have made for others with our witness of life and our apostolate convergent. The protagonist of our lives, personal and community
continues to be mysterious but wise Providence of God

We must be grateful to those who, in all these years, have raised an "unceasing prayer" to God for us. We know of some who have accompanied us through prayer, but only God knows all those who help us with the hidden love of prayer. There are times in our history and stages of human existence in which the only generous apostolate we can do is a "constant prayer" only if we pray we may feel abandoned and useless.
In the second reading (2 Tim 4,6-8.17-18 ), the writer gives us a sacred balance of life of the Apostle Paul: the past, the present and the future of his relationship with Christ and his mission of evangelization. Already in the letter to the Philippians (cf. Phil 2.17) and in Romans (cf. Rom 12:1 ; 15.16) Paul himself describes the existence and his preaching as a "libation" offered to God , a liturgical act, "" a religious function. " Paul's will, becomes a lesson for those who read it: Paul met the risen Christ, has agreed to be his collaborator in evangelizing the Gentiles and would like to eventually be with Christ for eternity. A whole life lived as an ongoing "liturgy" for God
With Pauline and Pauline who today celebrate their anniversary, we must rely on the Spirit realize ever clearer and deeper to understand the time and work of our entire existence as a "liturgy" that lives its faith with missionary equal intensity in the contemplation and apostolic action. First we learned from the Master the necessary balance and integration of a fruitful apostolate apostolic prayer and praying.
The passage of the Gospel (Mt 16.13 to 19) shall send to us the questions that Jesus gives his disciples: "Who do people say the Son of Man?" And "Who do you say that I am? ". To Peter, inspired by the Father, on behalf of all the disciples saw Jesus as "the Christ, the Son of the living God, Jesus entrusts its entire work of salvation:" You are Peter and upon this rock I will build my Church "and" I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven. "
tradition based on these words on the role of Peter and his successors in the church community. Theological reflection, especially since Vatican II, emphasizing the identity of the Church as the People of God, remind all the baptized the missionary dimension of the faith received as a gift with the revelation. To all of us are directed not only questions of Jesus, but also its promise to build on us His Church. God asks each of us to be his "assistant" and our membership of the Pauline Family reinforces the need to live an authentic "missionary evangelization to become a" ministry. "
read more numerous reflections of Blessed Giacomo Alberione on St. Peter and St. Paul in the work of harmonization of spirituality Pauline apostolate of the Sisters of Jesus the Good Shepherd. Inviting the Good Shepherd to plead with the Saints Peter and Paul, the First Teacher states: "Begging is because progress in the ministry, which is your specialization (the Sisters of Jesus the Good Shepherd, 1965, n. 172). He adds: "Ask the pastoral spirit. Peter, Supreme Pontiff, the supreme pastor, but as he worked, Paul's plenty more widely acted "(Id, 1967, n. 421).
The Good Shepherd Sisters, with the specific apostolate entrusted to them by the Founder, the other institutions have a permanent memory of an essential part of the Pauline charism: the pastoral spirit. Primo Maestro clearly bequeaths to us that everything and everyone in the life of St. Paul: "... everything has to be inspired pastoral apostolate, because the whole Pauline Family is ordained to the pastoral care" (At the Sisters of Jesus the Good Shepherd, 1965, n . 94).
Since all the baptized and the whole ecclesial community are committed to living a faith that "God give to men and men to God," is necessary to recall the meaning of pastoral care for Blessed Alberione "do something for the people of today" to all men, but especially for those who do not believe. The specific pastoral care of the Pauline Family is to "target, men of today."
With the memory of the labor costs for the Gospel and celebrate the festivities of today and the invocation of the Spirit, we ask for the Church and for the entire Pauline Family to understand better the need for a plan of pastoral care depart from ' identity of audience they want to bring the full Christ and all human reality with thought and lived the Gospel values.

FORMS OF PRAYER

item Alberione

1. prayer may be mental, and can be vocal and can be vital. Vocal prayer is [the one in which the important part of the voice, like the recitation of the Rosary], whereas mental prayer is one in which no part of the voice, but there is always the work of the mind and the work of the heart, inner work. Even the vocal prayer requires the attention of the mind, you need the affection of the heart, but in mental prayer everything is working the interior, this interior which can be more active or may be less active. When the grace that you leave work, leave work the Lord, who has already taken possession of the soul, and considers this soul with a certain intimacy, and shedding some light and stable with fervor and soul a holy union: mental prayer. However at the beginning, mental prayer is not always easy. And when there is [no] difficulty in mental prayer we can also, after thinking a little, mix or add, to fill the time, some vocal prayers, and sometimes even some mystery of the rosary and other prayer that you know and you know from memory.
But there is another prayer and it's called life. It is the prayer of life you do with your life that you and the life that you do. When we, whatever we do, we addressed to the Lord, and what we do is good and what we do is driven by a right intention, then the work is prayer. Not every job is prayer, no, but when the work is done in a way, as I said, then it becomes prayer. [...] But
pray every day, today, tomorrow, all year, and this month, another month and another year, until the end of life, always pray. [Comply with all files] As is required according to our state: meditation, a visit to the SS. Sacrament, the Rosary, pray always, all life, not letting the day without prayer. That day is a day lost, and then concludes with bitterness in the evening if we do not pray during the day, especially in the morning.
2 "Et numquam in deficit," never leave the prayer, ever. When the devil wants to win a soul disarms, that removes the help of God that way? Tempting not to pray. Then that person is weak and falls before the temptation. So you need to pray always and never forget. And why, pray always, never forget to be construed as I said, just pray every day. Not that we should leave occupations.
But you can also add another observation: If you transform your life in prayer, all that you do becomes a prayer and then, and even physically you can say, that person prays in continuity. He holds his heart united to God through the day's own aspirations, is also some spiritual communion, or recalled again the thought of morning meditation, and so on. That's his day is a constant prayer life. Our prayer is? Certainly applies. Of course, "All I ask of the Father, I will give it," says Jesus (cf. Mt 21.22 ). Then we have the intercession of the Blessed Virgin that combines her prayers to ours, and we have the intercession of our patrons, even those that were named, or those who are the protectors of the parish, where an association is .
The prayer is answered, but it takes three conditions. What are the conditions so that the prayer is heard from the Lord? Why not just any prayer, [being heard by the Lord] but the prayer is done well, good prayer. First we need faith. You really believe that this prayer is heard by God, and Heavenly Father bends to hear 3. prayer of one who will humble themselves and ask with confidence.
In the psalm says the Lord: "Lord, put your ear near my mouth, to hear" (Ps 16.6 ), as when a mother puts her ear close to the mouth of the little boy to understand. The Lord requires faith to believe that he is merciful, that He is strong, That we always ask for the graces, the merits of Jesus Christ, even if we have to say: "I'm so bad", but there are the merits of Jesus Christ. Jesus is good and is heard by the Heavenly Father. There are the merits of Mary Mary and pray with us. Faith is necessary. Faith that prayer does not fall into nothingness, never falls into the void, never, if it is done with faith. But make no mistake about that and believe that the Lord will give us exactly what we ask in particular. Yes, I believe that God always hears us, but either give us what we ask or give us any better. He listens to us as a wise father, as a father he loves. If the father loves his child and if the child also asked that the father uses his razor to shave the beard, or something that would burst in his hand, his father does not listen to the child, and instead of giving him what he would do evil, will give instead of a toy, for example. The Lord gives us the best when we pray or give us what we ask if he uses our eternal salvation, and gives us better. Eh, but I prayed for the healing of the father and has not healed, it is instead passed to eternity! But we always pray for the sick, but if the Lord always listens, who goes to heaven? I must at some point you go to heaven, is his will. What will the Lord then? to die well and then come early to heaven. And so if you love him tho that has an eternal life in this world of eternal life is there. Yes, so we always listen and if you do not give us what we ask gives us the best, because, At times, we ask things which are not useful for our eternal salvation, are not useful for our eternal salvation. Even when you ask a spiritual grace, we believe it is what we need, and however many times it is not, that. If one is proud, in life be ruined, and then the Lord makes so many humiliations comes to humility, humility and when you're going well and you sanctify much more. In essence, even in the virtues, the Lord will give what he sees as necessary to noi.4. Abandon in the arms of God I pray and then I get back to You How do I? Of 'good' Our Father who is the prayer of faith, the "Father Our "and where demand through general, which are included with all other details, and then the" Salve Regina ", which is the prayer of those who feel in need:" Calling us your eyes of mercy. " There is an almost desperate prayer: "Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, who has never heard that anyone in the world use you, your help has been sought and has been abandoned." I feel too many needs and so animated by this confidence I come to you. Although covered with sins, yet I know that you are the Mother of mercy and compassion on you, especially children who are sicker. As a mother who has several children, if any of these children is ill, his attentions are all facing that, because the other standard good. Yes, I have great faith in the Lord, we never doubted, never, and who receives no doubts. "Postulet autem in fide," the Scripture says, "always ask in faith" (Jas 1.6 ), ask with faith, because those without faith is not worthy to receive, can not receive. We need this condition. Yes
O after the other terms of humility and prayer would perseveranza.Ora has already spent the time and I will not tire oltre.Quanto perseverance then the condition is almost more necessary because of this you should always pregare.Ma may be that you just bed or that there are still opportunities to talk about it.
